2 Disidentify with your Feelings
Don't identify with the emotions that you are feeling. That means don't say to your self, "Here we go again, it’s my same old trip. I am a worrier, I am depressed, I am frustrated". No you're not. Say instead, "There is worry in here, or there is depression in here, but I am not the worry, I am not the depression". Any emotion that you feel simply comes to pass! And like clouds move across the sky 'these too will pass'. And they always do…eventually!
The more you engage the emotion, which also means the more you resist the emotion as a feeling that you do not want, the stronger it will become.

Becoming the Master of Your Moods |
A prevailing mood is like a weather front. It can hit the lands of your consciousness in gentle waves or descend like a grey mist or arrive as full blown storm. These waves are made of emotion, sometimes one emotion, sometimes a mix of many. Emotional turmoil is the price we pay today for our attachments yesterday. For example – if you lost someone or something important to you in the past, you would have created sadness. You would then repeat your sadness every time you remembered your apparent loss. Eventually you may become so familiar with your sadness that you become comfortable with being somewhat sad and sorrowful, perhaps even creating a subtle identity, “I am sad/sorrowful person”. This pattern records itself in your subconscious, waiting for a trigger event to invite it back into your conscious awareness. |

Wanting God |
Spiritual Story omsairam108 |
A hermit was meditating by a river when a young man interrupted him. "Master, I wish to become your disciple," said the man. "Why?" replied the hermit. The young man thought for a moment. "Because I want to find God."
The master jumped up, grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, dragged him into the river, and plunged his head under water. After holding him there for a minute, with him kicking and struggling to free himself, the master finally pulled him up out of the river. |

Temper |
Spiritual Story by omsairam108 |
A Zen student came to Bankei and complained: "Master, I have an ungovernable temper. How can I cure it?"
"You have something very strange," replied Bankei. "Let me see what you have." "Just now I cannot show it to you" replied the other. "When can you show it to me?" asked Bankei "It arises unexpectedly," replied the student. "Then," concluded Bankei, "it must not be your own true nature. If it were, you could show it to me any time. When you were born, you did not have it, and your parents did not give it to you. |
A Bank Savings Account Book |
Spiritual Story by omsairam108 |
My mother sent me a bank savings account book on the eve of my wedding. There had $1000.00 in it. My mother smiled and said, 'You both are going to deposit some money in it from time to time, when something is worth for memorable. Besides the money, you both learn that there will have the unlimited of happiness as you both grow old together.'
My husband deposited $500.00 twice later on. Once, he was promoted at work. |
Zen Master Blumise On A Whacking Spree
Written by Anmol Mehta
There was chaos at No Wind Monastery. The monks were running scared and the cause of their fear was none other than the head abbot, Zen Master Blumise. They all knew that the only monk who could help them in such desperate times was senior monk Tara, and the monks were running around frantically trying to find her.
Finally, a group located her sitting by the river enjoying the late afternoon sun.
"What's all this ruckus about?" she asked, rather alarmed at seeing a gang of anxious monks approaching her.

Practising the Art of Detached Involvement
To achieve authentic detachment and the practice of ‘detached involvement’ that we began to explore last week, it’s necessary to see and understand how attachment happens exactly. One of the best metaphors for understanding the mechanism and process of ‘attachment’ is the cinema. There we are in the auditorium aware of our self patiently waiting for the start of the movie. When it does begin and all those coloured lights start dancing across what was a blank white screen we may notice how we ‘seem’ to leave your body in the seat and go into the story on the screen. We get lost in the story and eventually lose our self in the characters. What they feel we feel, what they go through we go through, as we live vicariously through them. Some more than others of course!
Reflection (thinking deeply) is a necessary step in digesting knowledge.
Reflection is an exercise of the mind and intellect that goes into the depths of understanding an idea, or realization, or point of knowledge with the aim of practicing it in daily life.
Values in my life are a sign that knowledge has been digested; without this, knowledge simply remains a beautiful aspect, appreciated, interesting information in my intellect but without the ability to give me strength because it is still external; it has not been internalised.
